A presentation to City of Greater Sudbury Planning Committee was made by a group of concerned citizens on May 2, 2006 asking for:

1. Environmental assessment of the Barrydowne extension to Bodson Drive

2. Adjustment of all other variances of this new road on the Official Plan.

The result of the presentation was the inclusion of the Barrydowne Extension into the Official Plan as a long term project.

Today's Reality

• A new 2007 re-zoning has been approved for the construction of a new shopping centre across Carol Richard, increasing traffic congestion on Municipal Road #80.

• The continued residential development of many sub-divisions, such as Saddle Creek, Dominion Parc, and the recently approved Dalron sub-division of 602 dwellings on Valley View Road in Val Caron, and other approved sub-divisions will result in increased traffic on Municipal Road #80
